"I thought it might be painful but it wasn't. You hardly know they are needles at all. It was also very relaxing. Also, if I had a cold, neck ache, or wasn't feeling well during my treatment time, that was addressed as well, so that my overall health was always considered and treated."

Preparing for your First Visit

  • Begin thinking about your intension for seeking acupuncture, what you would like to accomplish during your treatment.
  • Try to schedule your day so you are not rushing to make your appointment time or hurrying to be somewhere immediately following. It is best if you can remain in a peaceful, balanced state after your treatment.
  • Be prepared to answer a variety of questions during the initial intake, even if they seem unrelated to your main condition. Oriental medicine looks at the whole physical and emotional aspects of a person to create a complete picture of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Be on time. I have reserved 1 ½ hours for your first visit. To allow adequate time for the intake, exam, and treatment, please be on time. I ask that you respect my time and give 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Although acupuncture points are located all over the body, the most commonly used points are located below the elbows and knees. Most of the time you are fully clothed, although sometime it may be necessary to undress and be professionally draped to access the back or hip areas. Your comfort is my primary concern.
  • Eat a light meal or snack 1-2 hours before your treatment. It is best not to be hungry or too full.

What to Expect
Most people find an Acupuncture treatment to be very pleasant and relaxing. Some people even fall asleep. Since I incorporate Qigong energy work with my Acupuncture treatments, many people can feel a gentle energy-flow sensation.

Many people experience a slight or significant reduction in their symptoms with the first visit. Acute conditions can usually resolve in 2-4 treatments. Chronic conditions may take several weeks to months. In addition to the Acupuncture treatment, I may recommend Chinese herbs, exercises, dietary changes, or lifestyle changes.

All sessions include questions/follow-up, Acupuncture treatment, Qigong energy treatment, and light Chinese massage. I may also include moxabustion heat therapy, Infra red heat lamp, cupping, electro acupuncture, herbal therapy, nutritional counseling, Qigong exercises, and lifestyle recommendations.
